"Cleaning in hospitals"

About: Yeovil District Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a carer),

My relative who has recently had chemotherapy for lung cancer was in hospital due to side effects. It took three days for her room to be cleaned and when it was the cleaner used a paper towel to wipe here and there and that was it. No fluid of any kind was used.

It made me and my relative concerned about the level of care and safety of the environment.

I am very sorry to read of your relative's experience. If you would like to contact the Patient Experience Team on 01935 384706 or pals@ydh.nhs.uk, they will be happy to discuss your concern in more detail.

Kind regards

Sid Hawkins

I do not want to discuss this further but would like you to give this feedback to the cleaning services managers and the person responsible for MRSA and CD targets and infectious disease control. I note that cleaning issues were picked up in your 2016 CQC report.
