I attended the Day Surgery Unit for a cystoscopy. As a result of a medical condition I was not well after the procedure. I was left in the incapable hands of auxiliary nurses who are not qualified and who had no understanding of my medical condition. They treated me as if I was behaving like a wimp rather than as a result of my body's physiology not working correctly. On this occasion I was lucky. I quickly recovered. If I had not a d deteriorated rapidly, a possibility, my life would have been in the hands of unqualified people. Thirty years ago I was an auxiliary nurse and we were not allowed to provide direct clinical care. There was a reason. We did not have the training a qualified nurse has. All too often these days unqualified staff are caring for patients.
Of course we may not always know what does go wrong. If less money was spent on bureaucrats not required then we could have more qualified healthcare professionals.
"Poor treatment from unqualified staff"
