My daughter had an appointment for an endoscopy to check her adenoids which she only had 24 hours to prepare herself for. She's only 9years old so I was worried she wouldn't cope well with it. We attended Monklands Hospital for her arranged appointment and from start to finish the whole visit went smoothly.
When we arrived at ward 9 we were met by a nurse who I think was called Sam, he was really friendly and straight away put my daughter at ease by making a joke and showing her a trick, before even asking what we were there for. I was so grateful to him because it was a nice way to lighten the mood for what was going to be an uncomfortable appointment.
He took our details and told us where we could wait while he contacted Mr Chin our doctor. He came back quickly to let us know we wouldn't have long to wait and he did another trick for us and let my daughter show him a trick too. I hope I have his name right because I'd like him to know that his kindness was appreciated and didn't go unnoticed.
Once taken to a treatment room with Mr Chin, both he and the nurse present were very kind and helped my daughter relax by talking her through the process and showing her the camera that was about to be used as well as the nasal spray.
The procedure was quick and painless and my daughter was relaxed through it all, and I have to thank Mr Chin and staff at the hospital for contributing to her calmness.
