My nan was admitted to ward 20 late evening where following transfer from A&E we settled her in then went home.
Following day we returned asked for a update to be told the reason for her decline was her dementia was now advanced - the nurse could not clarify how this decision was made.
Luckily the doctor was kind enough to talk to us and advise that this was not the case he recognised her dementia but advised the acute confusion could be down to dehydration or the fall she had experienced as she had increased pain.
It's very upsetting to think that my nan was labelled as 'dementia' rather than the person she is.
It's upsetting to think we have to leave my nan in a place where she is being wrongly diagnosed and labelled.
