"Farce from beginning to end - A & E through to..."

About: Colchester General Hospital / Accident and emergency

Attended A & E Saturday night 23.09.2017. Saw the nurse fairly swiftly. I explained I had fallen down on to a hard surface and all of my arm was painful. When asked where exactly it hurt

I responded all of my arm to which I was told it can't hurt everywhere proceeded by feeling down my arm. The nurse decided it was my elbow (even though pain also in my hand) and ordered xrays for this. When my arm was being moved I cried out in pain and was asked does it hurt!!!! Was given a sling for support. Saw the Doctor about 3 hours later who informed me my elbow was broken and had I been given any pain relief. er no! They said that would be sorted. Eventually left an hour later after being plastered by a overworked nurse in a plaster room that looked like a bomb site. Got my pain killers as I left.

Made an appointment for the fracture clinic for today before leaving A & E.

Arrived today to find I'd been booked into the wrong clinic - orthotics and not fracture clinic plus the consultant I was booked into see did ankles and feet and not upper limbs! The receptionist was very helpful but couldnt get me in the fracture clinic and booked an appointment for this Friday. I was directed to the PALS as I was far from happy. The lovely, lovely person in the PALS got straight on the phone to the secretary of the consultant taking the fracture clinic today. 5 minutes later I was being seen by the consultant after being personally escorted to the consultant room by the PALS officer. Temporary cast removed and advised no fracture after all , end of appointment. So Colchester Hospital, all in all, a pretty poor show and no, I won't be recommending you to others.
