"I was well looked after"

About: Good Hope Hospital / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I received a total knee replacement under the care of Mr Fernandez at Good Hope Hospital in  2016

I cannot speak highly enough of him, his team and the nurses who cared for me

I was particularly impressed with the 3 hour educational session that was run before the operation.

It was through this that I plucked up the courage to have a spinal block instead of a general anaesthetic. Also seeing and handling the replacement knee joint and watching the visuals of the forthcoming operation helped me to do the exercises, even when in pain.

Mr Fernandez tell me my operation is 100% successful and I have good mobility and bend in the knee. Very probably this is due to the fact I exercised well and was well looked after. Thank you

Dear Clayts,

Please accept my apologies for the delay in responding to your posting.

It is lovely to read your comments following your total knee replacement in 2106, under the care of Mr Fernandes and his team at Good Hope Hospital.

I am pleased that the visual aids were useful to you and that it assisted you in making a decision in opting for a spinal block, together with being able to handle the replacement knee, prior to your surgery.

I will forward your posting to the senior management team for T&O, as well as Mr Fernandes and ask that your posting is shared with the staff.

I am sure the staff will be absolutely delighted to read your positive comments and to know that you have made a good recovery.

Once again thank you for taking the time to provide your comments, as all patient feedback is very important to us.

Best wishes

Miss J. Langham

Patient Services Officer
