"I came to A&E following the bleeding..."

About: Ealing Hospital

What I liked

I came to A&E following the bleeding that started a miscarriage. We had to wait quite a while even though I was in pain but after my husband enquired, he was told they are waiting for a room to become free, which we liked as we had a total privacy and were not separated only with a curtain.

Everyone from nurses to doctors were extremely nice, sympathetic, but still firm and up to the point. They knew that non knowing is killing us and they even tried to do a scan, even though they were not skilled in operating it and told us that in advance, but we said it's worth a shot if we could see anything.

What could be improved

When I returned on the weekend to have my HCG levels blood test repeated at A&E because EPU is closed, neither the receptionist or the nurse who actually took my blood didn't read the form I gave them and asked inappropriate questions for someone who just had a miscarriage. Nurse who took the blood, was very sympathetic once realising it (after I burst into tears) but the blood form clearly said miscarriage and she was joking about bad veins in pregnant woman and asked me how many weeks pregnant I am.
