My mother was referred to let's talk well being by her GP.
She said it was "useless" they just listened, nothing happened. It is obvious to anyone that she suffers anxiety. I don't think my mum was given professional help in revealing and opening up about her anxiety. This was over two years ago and now
Her anxiety is worse. She will not leave the house alone, she is scared of her own shadow. The smallest thing, sends her into a terrible panic and she reports to her bed. It is like she is just waiting to die, she is addicted to morphine. She hardy will eat,
I feel that when she came to let's talk wellbeing, that her anxiety was not recognised by the counsellor, therefore it has become so advanced now, as it has not been treated. I feel that the most effective treatment would have been for her to receive "cognitive behavioural therapy". It is awful to see my mother in mental and physical pain, I feel helpless and let down by the service, which has resulted in it also affecting my own mental and physical health. This year I have been diagnosed with under active thyroid. I have had shingles too, which may have been brought on by worrying about my mother.
