"Great stay during operation, ward 9, Monklands"

About: University Hospital Monklands / General Surgery (Wards 4 & 7)

(as the patient),

Admitted for an op the day before (op first thing in morning), and made very welcome at ward 9, Monklands. Given freedom to roam as op wasn't until next day. Anaesthetist came to visit that evening and explained procedure, very reassuring. Throughout night, ward staff were excellent. Timely reminders about food and drink pre-op. Before transfer to theatre, again visits by key personnel detailing their part in the process. Mind at rest again, everyone very professional and I felt relaxed. Transfer nurses again going through all details before move to theatre where yet more detailed checks took place. Woke up at the other side and back to ward 9 where the start of a fabulous recovery began. Ward staff as before were excellent, very attentive. Next day, visits by key personnel, x-rays taken and medicine distributed along with trip to orthodontics, all very well executed, professional to the end. Ward doctor even popped in just before I left to see how I was (he'd just started shift as I was about to leave). Personal level of attention by all on ward 9 was exemplary.

Dear GCalder910

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about the exemplary level of care and attention you received during your recent admission to Ward 9 for surgery. Staff aim to make all our patients feel comfortable, informed and reassured during what can be an anxious time for them. Your feedback regarding the personal level of attention you received during all aspects of your journey from admission to discharge will be welcomed by the ward staff, theatre team and doctors involved in your care. I will make sure that this is passed on to the Ward 9 Team to share with their colleagues.

I hope you are recovering well from your procedure.

With best wishes

Lynn
