I have had 3 recent experiences of paeds ED in the last few months. The first with my littlest child who was septic on admission. The nursing staff triaged him quickly and he was seen & assessed promptly & thoroughly by the medical team. The consultant reviewed him within an hour of arrival. All throughout the steps were explained to us & nothing came as a surprise. We were admitted for further treatment and as a breast feeding mum, I was also looked after as well as my child.

The most recent admission came on "black Wednesday" - the day junior doctors change over. An early morning trip to NSECH with a croupy child. We were assessed, treated, reassessed and discharged within the hour.

Could not be happier with the assessment and treatment we have received during these 3 attendances. So grateful to all the team from the consultant & medical team, to the nursing staff, to the domestic staff and administrative staff on reception.

Dear Lucy,

My, you've had a bit of a tough time of late haven't you? Sorry to hear about your frequent need to attend emergency care with poorly children. Delighted that on each of those occasions we've done what we could to ensure you had prompt, kind, and effective care. Urgent recognition and treatment of sepsis is so essential to saving lives - I hope your wee one is much better now.

Your review is so thoughtfully written and I know will be received with pride by the emergency care team - thanks so much for taking the trouble to write it.
