"3 times cancellation of total hip replacment"

About: Good Hope Hospital / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as a relative),

My wife has now had 3 cancellations for her hip to be replaced. Sher has to have both hips replaced and saw a registrar at Good Hope on in February 2017.

The last 2 occasions it was the night before she is due to go into the hospital. The last being tonight at 5. 10pm. All because of A & E having to take the bed allocation.

This is now 9 months later and each time she has a (Provisional date) she has to come off her pain killers a week before. We are now in a position where her Pre Op has to be repeated ( this feels like another delaying tactic) as we have gone past the due date. My wife has not only suffered physically but a great deal of mental stress, that's without what it is doing to us as a family. It's disgusting.

Dear Relative,

Please accept my apologies for the delay in responding to your posting.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments.

I am very sorry to learn that your wife’s surgery has been cancelled at Good Hope Hospital.

Unfortunately, at this point in time and due to the current winter pressures, it is with regret that many Orthopaedic surgeries have been cancelled.

If you would be willing to provide further details such as your wife’s name, address and date of birth, together with your name and a contact number, as a Trust, we would welcome the opportunity to review the situation, if your wife still does not have a date for her surgery.

You can do this by contacting a member of the Patient Services Team on 0121 424 0808 or you can email your concerns to bhs-tr.Complaints-ConcernsandCompliments@nhs.net who can then take the necessary action.

If you do contact our team, can I please ask you to advise the member of staff that you are responding to your Care Opinion Posting.

I will forward your posting to the Trauma and Orthopaedic senior management so they are aware.

Once again thank you for your posting as all feedback is important to us.

Best wishes

Miss J. Langham

Patient Services Officer
