"I had my second child at Princess Anne..."

About: Princess Anne Hospital

What I liked

I had my second child at Princess Anne on the 20th, by elective C-section; the standard of care from the start to finish was fantastic. From the moment we arrived on Labour Ward, first thing in the morning, the midwife team were superb; the student midwife put our fears at ease by being relaxed and calm, and her colleague was efficient in her checks and advice. Similarly, the surgical team in theatre were excellent; my husband and I were reassured by their calm nature. In Recovery we were attended for 3 hours of thorough, yet unobtrusive, checks and observations by the midwife; a private recovery room ensured that we were allowed to enjoy the first few hours of our daughter's life without interuption from other patients' needs. We were then transferred up to Burley Ward; we were thrilled that they managed to arrange another private room, No 18, for us to stay in. There again the standard of care throughout the weekend was excellent; I felt that all the staff on duty throughout the day and night were professional, helpful and thorough. We had a very different experience when our first daughter was born by elective C-section in 2005; we feel that our experience this time was outstanding and it is notable that the standard of aftercare has made vast improvements. We would like to thank all the staff involved on Labour Ward, the Operating Surgical Team and the nurses on Burley, for making our daughter's start to life a calm one.

Kind regards - Charlotte.
