"A & E experience"

About: Worcestershire Royal Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a parent/guardian),

My 21 year old daughter experienced an unexplained seizure. The ambulance crew were incredibly efficient and reassuring both to my daughter and all the other family members who witnessed the ordeal. She was taken to Worcester Royal A & E and seen straight away by two very chirpy nurses who again made my daughter and myself more at ease. She did have to wait on a trolley in the corridor for a couple of hours but was then seen by a very friendly doctor, who made us both smile with his sense of humour. We waited a little while longer before being sent for a scan. Again the radiologist made my daughter feel at ease. She was then sent to the ward and was able to have a proper bed to rest on for an hour or so while we waited for all the results. We were offered tea/coffee/biscuits by the friendly nursing staff. We were notified when the report was back but also that it would be approximately a further half an hour wait as the doctor had been called to see another patient. The doctor was able to see us not long after that time and explained very clearly the findings and his referral. From the seizure occurring at 5. 15 pm we were home just after midnight. I would like to thank all those who cared for my daughter at Worcester Royal Hospital very, very much. You all made this very scary experience manageable and clearly are fantastic at what you do. Thank you.
