A family member was admitted to A&E where the staff we really helpful, caring and knowledgeable, considering how busy they are they took time to help us understand what the diagnosis was, truly wonderful staff.

Unfortunately we were then transferred to the ward, if I tell you it was woeful I'm being kind!!. The ward staff told us that the A&E doctor didn't know what they are talking about and the diagnosis we had was incorrect. The nurse's were rude and really didn't want to engage with the patient or my family, although the patient was a vulnerable person with mental health problems he was left at one point for 28hrs without food or drink. When we asked to see doctors to find out what was happening we were told they were too busy to see or to phone us. The patient has now been discharged although we still don't truly know what was the problem was or if it will reoccur. I have phoned and emailed a complaint but three weeks later no one has bothered to get in touch obviously although the website says tell us about your experiences they really don't care.

Sadly I live in Reading so know at some point I'll have to use this hospital again really hope I never have to go further that the A&E dept!!
