"cancelled knee operation"

About: Medway Maritime Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

yesterday I arrived on pre operative care unit at 6 45 am, at 1pm I was told to get my gown on and surgical stocking on right foot, at 3 50pm i am still waiting to go done to theatre, then senior staff come to see me to tell me that my op had been cancelled as recovery was fully full and no spare beds on the wards, was offered another date in october as my surgeon is on annual leave, got offered sandwich and cup of tea, had to ring my partner to come and get me, I was very upset and angry, as I hadnt had this before, normally its all ok, the staff on pre operative care unit are lovely, and so is the secretary for orthopeadics, and Pals as they rang me this morning after me leaving a review yesterday evening

Dear Rosanda,

Thank you for your feedback. We are really sorry that your experience has not been a positive one at all on this occasion and we are dreadfully sorry that your surgery had to be cancelled on the day. This is always a last resort as we know the impact this has on patients.

From your comments it appears that you have been in contact with our PALS Team and hopefully they have been able to assist you. However, if you have not been offered a further date for surgery please do contact our PALS team again.

Kindest regards,

The Patient Experience Team
