About: The Royal Victoria Infirmary

What I liked

I had my son here by elective section as he was extremely large. The registrar was excellent when answering my questions and consenting me and the consultant obstetrician and anaesthetist were so kind and warm that we had an fantastic experience of something that could have been very cold and clinical. All the midwives and nursing staff in theatre, recovery and on the postnatal ward were superb. The ward also seemed very clean (a change from my previous visit 2 years ago) and was not busy so everyone had lots of time to spend with me when I needed it.

What could be improved

The food is fairly bad! But no worse than other hospitals....

Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule as a new parent to compliment our service. Our Staff endeavor to deliver high quality care to the mothers and their families who use our service – your appreciation is most welcome and will be shared with staff.

I’m sorry to hear you were unhappy about the food which was provided. We continue to work with our colleagues in the Catering Department to bring about improvements and have made a number of changes, including the introduction of a fridge on the ward containing light snacks such as sandwiches, fruit juice, cheese and biscuits and fruit which is available twenty four hours a day. I will ensure your comments are passed on to the Catering Manager, and that we continue to work to bring about further improvements.
