I broke my foot in a sport-related incident at the weekend. I made my own way to the RUH but was seen by the triage nurse quite quickly, bearing in mind it was Saturday lunchtime! Shortly after being triaged I was x-rayed, returned to reception, then almost immediately seen again to have the injury and possible treatments explained; then off to be plastered. I also got the opportunity to talk to the locum on-call orthopaedic surgeon to allay my concerns that I would need an operation. The whole visit was less than two hours. Everyone was kind, polite, attentive, and respectful of my concerns and dignity.
Well done folks, and thank you!
The follow up virtual fracture clinic on the Monday was also excellent, and I got to see the orthopaedic consultant that very afternoon.
"excellent and quick A&E treatment and follow up"
