"A&E - Husband had a fall"

About: Queen Alexandra Hospital / Accident and emergency

My husband had a fall, he thought he had broken his collar bone, we went to QA, when he was looked at they were initially thought it may just be dislocated, however that did not end up being the case - Impacted Fracture to collar bone.

He was given a x-ray, which was looked at by the Virtual Fracture Clinic.

After paracetamol to start, gas/air, then stronger painkillers, we were on our way home, with a letter, stating Fracture Clinic would contact between 10:00 - 16:00 the next day.

The Staff were professional & friendly.

Next husband contacted by Fracture clinic & was given a appointment just over 2 weeks a way.

He has had that appointment, no x-ray taken, told another appointment in 4 weeks time, then they would decided if he requires an operation (he is an Engineer) & they would also send him for a scan of his bones (no appointment as yet) & a 2 month sick note

Hi Julie

I hope your husband continues to recover from his fall.

If you or your husband have any concerns about his treatment then you can always contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) who will arrange for this to be looked into straight away. You can e-mail us at PHT.PALS@porthosp.nhs.uk

Kind regards

Marion
