"Pop and Play, Chilwell Sure Start, Wednesday"

About: Chilwell Children's Centre

(as a service user),

I just wanted to communicate how disappointed I am regarding the recent news that the pop and play session will no longer be happening on a Wednesday. After deciding to start a second family later in life and with most of my friends children also grown up, I was keen to meet other Mums with babies of similar ages. I have found the support of other Mums and Staff invaluable on this journey to the point I have arranged to not work Wednesdays when I return to work in November.

I was upset to the point I layed awake most of the night last Wednesday wondering what I could do to save this valuable playgroup for the parents and children.

I have also encouraged other people to come to the group as this is indeed the only group that caters for children mixed ages. The baby groups want you to go to the toddler groups as soon as they are walking and the toddler groups are to rowdy for babies.

I was under the impression the centre was funded to provide safe play facilities to the people of the local area, if the facility is not going to be made available then what actually is the point of it existing?

Hello,

Thank you very much for taking the time to let us konw your views on pop in and play at Chilwell.

I am very sorry that there has been some mis-communication.

The pop in and play session is not closing, it is to remain open.

There appears to be some confusion as it is only one Wednesday per month when the Childrens Centre have a full team meeting that we are unable to have a pop in and play.

This was decided after I met with the group and asked them if they would prefer to meet on a Wednesday each week except on the week that we had a team meeeting once per month, or if they wanted to change to another day. The group all chose that they wished to continue to meet on the wednesday and would just miss one session per month when we have team meeting, - the dates that were to be missed are put on face book.

I was very pleased to hear how much you valued this group and I hope that you continue to use this service

Kind regards

Rosemary Phillipson
