I have an appointment at Ayr hospital. I tried to get hospital transport as it is quite a distance from where I live and I do not have any family near with a car.

I was told because I do not have a disability I did not qualify. They gave me another telephone number to call which I did, but again no help. They gave me another number to call which I did. All in all I was given 5 different phone numbers to call.

Most of my family live in Manchester and Helensburgh so I do not have access to a car and I do not drive myself.

It will take me about 2 hours to get to the hospital.

If it was not a serious problem I have I would just phone up and cancel.

I think it is ridiculous that people who do not have a disability and have to attend the hospital, which is miles away are not eligible for hospital transport.

I am sorry to read that you are unhappy with the way that your hospital transport is being organised.

You may wish to know that our staff our trained to carry out an in depth assessment of what the needs of patients are so that we can ensure that we can provide the right type of ambulance for them. That assessment also includes ensuring that we only convey patients with a medical need.

I'd like to make sure that we handled your call as expected and also to see if I can help you as you are clearly having problems getting to your appointment and we need to fix that.
