"Upper GI Endoscopy"

On entering the Centre, I found the surroundings pleasant, clean looking and welcoming. All the Staff (from Reception to Consultant) who looked after me on the day were very helpful, understanding, informative and supportive; especially as I was very nervous about having the procedure. However, I need not have worried as everything was clearly explained to me beforehand and throughout. This made me feel I was very much part of the process. I was treated with great respect and care and never once did I feel like people were talking about me and not too me. This was wholly refreshing and greatly appreciated. The nursing staff before, during and after the procedure were fantastic. The Consultant who undertook the procedure was not only very professional but very reassuring, which I greatly appreciated. On the day the only little 'cloud' was the length of time I had to wait. However, staff members ensured I was alright and the Consultant apologised to me for the delay explaining there had been a malfunction of the equipment which was now fine and that was why they were running late. I also appreciated, that the staff kept my husband out in the waiting area updated. I felt like I was being looked after by a very professional, communicative and well organised team. I didn't realise that I would receive a copy of the Consultant's report and what he had found during the procedure. A member of the nursing staff went through this with me just before my discharge which I found most informative and helpful. I have never received anything like this before and is something I will be able to discuss with my GP when we are discussing the future medication I will be requiring.
