"A&E e meaning emergency"

About: Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital / Accident and emergency

Arrived at hospital at 12.00 with my son that fell out of bed with a ankle that had tripled in size and a deep cut to his arm . Was checked in and seen by the nurse about 10 mins wait told the nurse the information needed then was told would be a 1.5-2 hour wait at this point to see the Doctor was sent to waiting area not even applied a dressing to arm . After 4 hours of waiting asked were we near to being seen then was told we had 4 more before us . I explained I had to get home as had a child at home and needed to get my partner up as he's deaf and I'm his alarm clock . Eventually I was seen by a nurse again after having a rant they then decided to have an x ray then they decided to put a dressing on his arm after I made a fuss . Eventually at 5 o'clock we were seen by the doctor for 5 mins said nothing was broken and then was seen by a nurse to put stitches on his arm . Got home at 6 in the morning would not go there again being new to area a big disappointment

Thank you for your feedback on our emergency department. I would like to apologise that your recent visit with your son was not of the high standards we aim to provide. I have shared your comments with the clinical leaders for the department, however, if you wish to discuss your individual circumstances further please feel free to contact the customer care team on 01256 486766 or email customercare@hhft.nhs.uk.
