About: Darent Valley Hospital / Accident and emergency

Arrived at approximately 4pm at a&e booked in OK told to wait after some time called into side office to see a nurse who took 1 look at me thrust a paper in my hand & told to go to a walk in clinic not once did the nurse look at the knee i injured at work tried to explain what happened and the nurse just turned their back on me and said I can walk so will not be seen or X-rayed at this hospital. I am a 61 year old man i don't go to a&e for the fun of it, i am also self employed so i would not be at a&e if i did not think it was serious, to make matters worse the time i left and looked at the paper that was thrust into my hand it was to late to get to a walk in clinic with a x ray machine. Feel very angry and frustrated at the lack of care and professional service received today, will now have to try privately for treatment very let down by your hospital, i thought that if you have a accident you should go to a&e , will be taking this further so no one else gets treated like this

We were sorry to read of how unhappy you were with your treatment in our A&E Department and please do contact us if you wish to take the matter further. Please though can we take this opportunity to reiterate that the A&E Department is for life threatening accident and emergencies.

Urgent Care Centres and Minor Injury Units treat illnesses and minor injuries, saving you a trip and long wait at A&E. You can simply walk-in as no appointment is necessary.
