"Not very helpful hospital stay"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital

(as a service user),

I was admitted to Forth Valley Hospital  for a couple of days with violent headaches and sickness. I kept telling nurses and doctors I thought I had a urine infection.

I felt that all they were interested in was the cause of the headache and told me to see GP when I got home about urine infection. They refused to test for UTI. I suffered same symptoms on and off for 2 months until UTI was treated.

Also unsuccessful attempt at lumbar puncture and being asked to sit up straight after caused a lot of discomfort. A different doctor next day was quick painless and successful.

However if they had listened to my symptoms and tested for UTI scan and lumbar puncture would not have been necessary

Dear Mrs Scottiedogz

Thank you for taking the time to get in touch, I was disappointed and sorry to learn that your experience was not a more positive one, it must have been very frustrating for you.

I was wondering if it would be at all possible for you to get in touch with me, as I would like to share your feedback with the ward that your were admitted to and look at how we could have made your time in hospital a more pleasant one. You can contact me on 01324 566523 or email p.marland@nhs.net

Again I am so sorry that you have had this experience of our services and hope that you feel able to get in touch with me.

Kindest regards

Pauline Marland
