"Poor communication about where to go for treatment"

About: Leicester Royal Infirmary / Accident and emergency Leicester Royal Infirmary / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I have a foot abscess, Took by ambulance and spent 3 hours being ignored I was not given a number, I am also visually impaired, I spent the day in the walk in centre, where I was send to the trauma centre to have it lanced and drained, Which is the same as A & E. So Like a mug I went. I was blazing I was seen quite quickly, but then I waited to see a doctor, they said I should have been sent to the trauma unit like my letter stated.

They are not visually impaired friendly, They do not take into consideration we cannot see there boards which display numbers, but the reception staff never told me what my number was.

They need to learn to read letters explaining why I was there.

Spent a fortune in taxis.

I do not ever want to go there again

Dear reviewer,

Thank you for your feedback. We are very sorry to hear about your recent experience and would like to investigate it further. Please email communications@uhl-tr.nhs.uk and we would be happy to send your details to the management team for this service. We would require your full name, address, date of birth and hospital number. We would then ask the team to contact you directly. Or please contact our Patient Information Liaison Service (PILS) on Freephone Tel. 08081 788337 and they will contact the department directly; they again will require your personal details.

We hope we can be of assistance to you.

Best wishes,

The Communications Team
