After suffering from a very rapid onset of pneumonia I was discharged from Good Hope because of my also rapid recovery. I'd had really good care throughout but when it came to discharge I was severely let down by pharmacy.
They had been informed about my discharge before mid-day. I sat in the discharge lounge for at least two hours while my medication sat in the checking tray. I was getting very anxious as I was due to take some of my medication and I was very concerned about my fragility.
The staff in the discharge lounge were very helpful. They tried really hard to push pharmacy for everyone who was waiting, and their attitude helped to keep us in good spirits.
Pharmacy weren't being very helpful though and we left far later than we wanted because my lift had to be somewhere.
The next day it appeared that not only had pharmacy taken so long, they had also failed to give me enough of the medication I needed - only one day's worth instead of two, as the discharge prescription showed.
Luckily my GP moved fast and I was able to get the necessary medication without missing any. Though this did mean that I ended up paying for medication I never should have.
