"In my opinion, you can't be a carer without caring"

About: Colchester General Hospital

(as a carer),

I have been a carer in the community for 9 years and have looked after one certain person for that length of time. They are very disabled with MS.

I have looked after them every day, watched them deteriorate , and watched their life and the families life change over the years.

As a carer I should not get too involved, but in my opinion, you can't be a carer without caring. This person has recently been taken into hospital and I feel the quality of care they have received is well under standard.

They have been in hospital for 3 weeks, being very disabled they have to be hoisted to be moved at any time.During this time they have not been shaved or washed properly in the whole 9 years in my care they have never had a bad bed sore, they now have bedsores on the bottom and heels.

They no longer looks the person that I know, I dont blame the hospital staff as they have done their best with the care and time they are allowed to give.

I have found this very upsetting and distressing. It appears to me the British Government are proud of themselves for cutting costs in any way they can. This letter will be forwarded to my local MP.
