"Really frustrating"

About: Clifton Medical Centre

I moved to this surgery simply because my gp for the last 10 years has moved here. I have long term chronic illnesses mixed with rare illnesses and have had numerous rare and groundbreaking surgeries. My Gp is the only person who knows the ins and outs of everything, to see another doctored I would have to spend Half an hour explaingbthese thing before I could discuss the current issue. I suffer sleep apnoea and extreme fatigue. Trying to be awake for 8 to get an appt is very difficult for me . I suffer recurrent lung infections, severe water infections and these set my body into a flare leaving me in excrutiating pain. It has been getting more snore difficult to get appts either the pre bookable ones are already booked and trying to get through at 8am is like a phone lottery. This week have been trying to see my docto all . That means getting up after very little sleep to constantly press try again when you get the line busy ( today I made 172 attempts in 17 minutes only to be told yet again the doctor has no slots left as I have every day this week. Two of those days I was given the wrong information of what times he was working.

So now I have to go and see someone I've never met to try to explain 3 infections I currently have even though they won't understand half of what I'm saying. I will be given a generalised antibiotic that won't work and I will not be able to have my surgery next week that's already been held up for nearly 2 years.

This is not the first time I've had this issue with appointments and I know a lot of patients that are getting really fed up with this ridiculous appointments system

I am sorry to hear of your difficulties re making appointments to see your preferred GP

Could I suggest that you register for Online Appointments, which may help you to get a routine appointment with your preferred GP, however if you need an urgent appointment then that would always be with the 'on call' GP, which the GPs cover in rotation

We appreciate that patients like to see their preferred GP, however due to their annual leave/ work rotas etc, we always recommend that you have a second GP who is well aware of your medical problems

I hope this is helpful
