I am a vulnerable adult,on the autism spectrum, with aspergers. And meeting people for me is very scary. But I can't tell you how phenomenal all the ward staff were,I wish I could name names, but you are not allowed to in your review, I will write to a higher manager of some description, and absolutely name names, so the individuals involved in my care can be known and praised appropriately.
The kindness and gentleness of most people I saw was appreciated, I felt comfortable despite having to be naked under a hospital gown, which was a terrifying experience, I've never been that undressed in front of anyone ever !
Everything was explained in detail, and smiles galore, put me at ease,a few people were a bit more ,buckling down and getting on with it,and not so much of the smiles and pleasantries, but were completely professional, so no complaint, but I prefered the smiling nurses.
I had a tooth extracted, and was bought ice cream and water after my procedure, how pampered ! The nurses joked and smiled with me after, and despite being numb,I was feeling fab ,and loving the atmosphere ,I even got a good bye hug from one nurse when I left ☺
if all hospital experiences were like mine, the world would be great ! I've only had a couple of paracetamol and it's not that sore, and before leaving everything was thoroughly explained about post op care. Excellent nurse care,I felt totally cared for,and not just another patient in their day.
"Excellent service ,at the Short Stay Unit"
