(as the patient),

 I was having a regular endoscopy to check my Barretts oesophagus which I've had for around 30 years. All my previous endoscopys had been at Nottingham City Hospital. This time I was directed to the Circle Treatment Centre at Queens Medical Centre Nottingham.

My endoscopy was carried out by Dr Ortiz and his team. On a follow-up appointment Dr Ortiz informed me of a small lesion in my oesophagus that he would remove and have tested. This procedure took place and the test results came back as cancerous. Dr Ortiz reassured me that all would be well and that he would perform a series of ablations that would not only 'burn away' any infected cells but would also allow my oesophagus to regrow back to normal. I placed my full trust in Dr Ortiz and his team feeling very safe to do so and had a series of 4 ablations over the next year.

The compassion and kindness that Dr Ortiz and his team showed to me was second to none during my treatments at the QMC endoscopy unit. It is clear to me that this team is really well led and adopts a very caring approach. I am now clear of cancer and Barretts oesophagus and would like to register my sincere thanks to Dr Ortiz and his team. Also to say that as an NHS patient I have received care and treatment second to none. Thank you.
