About: NHS Somerset CCG

(as the patient),

I recently developed a very painful, swollen red elbow, which kept me up at night and felt like it couldn't wait until Monday for treatment, but wasn't an "emergency".

I called NHS 111 early Sunday morning, was given an appointment that morning. The GP I saw was lovely and I started treatment - antibiotics - by midday. The pain has improved daily and the swelling and redness is reducing.

This is a fantastic service that kept me well and at work which might not have been the case if I had left it until Monday.

Thank you for posting such kind comments regarding your recent visit to the Out of Hours Service. I was pleased to read that you were given treatment in a timely manner and that your elbow is now improving.

Although the Out of Hours Service is based at Musgrove Park Hospital the service is provided by the Somerset Clinical Commissioning Group. In this instance, I would suggest that you contact the Patient Advice & Liaison Service based at the Somerset Clinical Commissioning Group who will be able to pass on your comments to the staff involved in your care.
