"Emergency Department forth valley royal"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Accident & emergency

(as a relative),

My mum was brought in by ambulance at the weekend. This time we were absolutely disgusted and appalled at the way the department was.

Mum was left in obvious agony and it took hours to get pain relief, nobody looked the road we were on despite asking several times. After asking and asking eventually a nursing assistant came to get her to the toilet and after getting mum into a wheelchair and into the toilet announced that they couldn't help as they had a "sore head"!

The nurses were rude to a patient with one incident making everyone within earshot comment on it. I appreciate the department was very busy but we really thought it was inexcusable and totally unprofessional. If anyone wishes to contact me I would be very willing to give them full details.

Dear Maz01

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, I can't begin to imagine how difficult and distressing this must have been for both you and your mum. I was really saddened and disappointed to read your story and very sorry that you have had such a poor experience of our care.

We expect our staff to deliver the highest standard of person centred care at all times, unfortunately this was not the case for your mum. I would really like the opportunity to investigate further the concerns that you have raised, can I ask you to get in touch with me on 01324 568433 or alternatively you can email me on jasongraham@nhs.net

Again I am so sorry that this was your experience, please can I ask that you pass on our apologies to your mum, who I hope is making a good recovery since her visit to the Emergency Department. I look forward to hearing from you.

Kindest regards

Jason Graham

Thank you very much for your response, I will give you a call to discuss everything as I would like to try to prevent anyone else being treated in such an appalling way.

My mum was admitted and went to AAU where she was treated exceptionally well by very knowledgeable, caring and friendly nurses. She is now on a ward amd we are hopeful of a good recovery.

Thank you again and I'll be in touch with you soon.
