I feel the standards in this ward (Ward 11) are dreadful. Whilst visiting, my friend and I noticed that her mum's catheter bag was full to bursting. Notified nursing staff. CSW came to empty the bag and was wearing one glove. Did not ask us to leave not did she draw curtains and in full view of the entire bay including the patients grandson proceeded to empty the bag. Not one word was spoken to any of us.
My friends mum who is very poorly then told us she had been given a row earlier in the day for buzzing for the toilet. On asking more she was able tell us that the same CSW said to her "that's the 6th time you have buzzed" my friends mum apologised. This might seem trivial however these 2 incidents are not isolated.
Basic nursing care, maintaining dignity, being respectful should be given at all times. This kind of experience just adds immense stress and worry the family are already under.
