I have been attending the Rhuematolgy dept for 12 years, being diagnosed by them.
My review concerns the past two or three years, the level of respect and frequency of critical review appts has seriously eroded.
And I have felt fobbed off, by dismissive attitude. I had the same experience as an earlier reviewer in that I was asked a series of questions from a sheet of paper, I expressed my concern that I did not fit into a tick box excerise and did not feel heard nor did anything fruitful come from the appointment at all.
In the early years of diagnosis I think I received excellent treatment, overall. I have wondered if the staff find it difficult in hard to treat cases and as many RA'ers know, their pain can be dismissed and explained away by neuropathological damage, which feels like one is being told it's not real pain.
I would recommend staff read more on RA forums and the likes of blogs like RA Warriors to gain a true insight into the reality of living with progressive Rhuematoid.
