"MRI at Woodend"

About: Woodend Hospital / Radiology

(as a service user),

I recently attended Woodend for an MRI, something I had been dreading since I had received the appointment! I have had numerous MRI scans previously and each has been a horrible experience filled with panic attacks and lots of tears. I mentioned my fear to the Radiology staff at Woodend who then gave me options to relieve this panic, the first time this has ever happened. A staff member walked me round the machine, explained everything thoroughly and allowed me to take my time settling into the scanner. Both of the Radiology staff on that Friday evening were full of compassion and understanding and despite the late hour didn't rush the process. I had the best experience I could have had in a situation I fear and that was entirely down to the Radiology staff so I'd like to thank them from the bottom of my heart.

Dear Jasudo5186,

Thank you so much for your lovely words. I will pass them onto the team in question and let them know how their kind and thoughtful actions have made your experience one that you may not have anticipated. It is always lovely to hear from patients who have had a good or bad experience as it lets us see what we can keep doing and what we need to get better at.

It is always inspiring to me that simple acts of kindness and taking a little bit of time has so much positive effect on patients. I truly believe anybody that wants to work in our brilliant NHS service only ever comes to work to do good things.

thank you again.
