Visited A & E following accident was seen within 30 mins. Staff professional and caring. Admitted to fitzwilliam ward to await knee surgery. Could not fault the staff at all they were very friendly and caring.
Day 2 I was transferred to a ward prior to surgery. What a difference it was as though I was in a different hospital. I was transferred in my hospital bed my things put in 2 white bags and dumped in the bags on the floor beside my bedside cabinet and left there. A member of staff stormed over with a jug of water and cup didn't speak stuck it on the table and walked of. The only kind and caring staff on that ward was the staff member who served coffee and meals they were an absolute gem. There was no dignity at all toilet door had to be left wide open with only screen being a curtain that didn't even go to the floor, visitors or anyone passing the bathroom could hear you at the toilet.
6 beds per bay, 3 of which were dementia patients who through no fault of there own shouted all night so no sleep. Surely patients with dementia should be in a seperate bay as We had all had surgery and needed rest to recover. Ten minutes to midnight lights still not dimmed staff decided to change 2 of the beds which were occupied by old people who they woke up to change the beds. Lights were dimmed at 25 mins past midnight.
I was discharged 2 days after surgery and couldn't get out of that ward fast enough . The wound to my leg was not checked for infection etc by a nurse or a doctor at all after surgery or prior to discharge. I was discharged by physiotherapist.
