"Sympathetic treatment by nurses in the..."

About: The Whittington Hospital

What I liked

Sympathetic treatment by nurses in the early pregnancy diagnostic unit after my miscarriage. Two nurses were professional and sympathetic, and put me at ease during my scan.

What could be improved

I had the misfortune of having the most unsympathetic nurse in ED. They asked me what I was there for - when I said I had a miscarriage they didn't bat an eyelid or ask how I felt. I said it was on the recommendation of my midwife that I come to ED to be seen by a doctor. They seemed surprised - not a HINT OF SYMPATHY! I was so traumatised and angry at the time I wanted to go PALS to complain.

They said they would talk to the gynae registrar and get back to me. When they called me back in they sent me home as there was nothing the the doctors would do at that point. I understood this, and didn't have an issue with it - it was their complete lack of empathy that bothered me during a very traumatic time.

Anything else?

Overall the Whittington is a lovely hospital with generally very good staff.
