I was admitted to a Gynaecology Ward (49) at the Queen Elizabeth Teaching Hospital in Glasgow at around midnight last night, due to excessive bleeding from miscarriage. Over the 12 hours that followed, I was looked after by countless concerned and capable professionals, preceding and following an Emergency Evacuation of Miscarriage at around 3am. An unpleasant experience made lighter by the warmth and genuine care demonstrated by all members of the team, irrespective of position, from catering staff to consultant doctors. Surgery and all that entails, drugs and medication, bed and board, all without needing a penny in my pocket. What a piece of work the NHS is. The whole experience was utterly humbling and has had the overwhelming effect of making me very proud to be British.
"Utterly humbled by my experience of the NHS"
