"4th Operation Cancellation"

About: Queen's Hospital / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as a relative),

My mother who is in her 70s and suffering very badly from arthritis in her knees and hands and also needs a operation on her lower back because she is in constant pain and unable to walk unaided, this operation is a very serious and was due last week & was cancelled at the last moment on the day she was admitted this is the 4th time her operation has been cancelled? Which obviously had made our mother distraught and very tearful and even though the operation was a serious and would of taken around 4 to 6 hours.

Since her cancellation not one person has contacted my mother or her children to let know anything? And that the operation was cancelled due to a heart condition which she thought was ok because after many trips to the hospitals for tests etc.

The hospital suddenly cancelled her operation due to her newly found condition? And now a week later has not even contacted her or her children to inform us what is happening? Or what the next stage is going to happen we are very annoyed and upset how our poor Mum has been treated by everyone concerned and have contacted our local MP and thinking of taking this to the local newspaper.

We are appalled by the way she has been treated by the Queens Hospital and people concerned in looking after our Mother.

Where do we go next for her to be able to receive her operation and care she needs and we are fully aware the difficulties the Hospitals are facing these days but to be cancelled four times in a year is just shocking especially when she is suffering and in so much agony which the Doctors and surgeon said after her operation would make her life so much easier and better .
