"Recent admission."

About: University Hospital Wishaw University Hospital Wishaw / Gynaecology (Ward 13)

(as a relative),

Just over two weeks ago my elderly mother was admitted to A&E with complications from an infection which was already under investigation but between investigative scans.

She was released home this morning and it is worth mentioning that throughout her stay the staff on wards 9 and 13 have been absolutely excellent. Communication and escalation of treatments was concise and efficient making my mother very comfortable with how she was being processed through the system.

The nursing staff on both wards have earned the greatest of respect because although they were always busy they always took time to "care" for the patients making recovery that bit easier to bear and they were always patient and helpful with family queries throughout the process.

Lastly the occupational therapists and social workers involved have done a great job in ensuring that not only is she fit to return home but the house is as well so ensuring her continued ability to stay in her own home.

The only thing that could be improved is the communication between departments.

Thanks from the patient and the whole family.

Dear Steve F,

Many thanks for taking the time to post your comments. I am delighted to hear that the care that your mother received was very good and that you felt staff took the time to care for your mother. The wards have been working very hard to improve patients and relatives experience through person centred care and it is very clear that this has been very beneficial to your mother and your family. I will share your comments with the staff involved and will highlight the communication between departments as this can be improved upon.

I hope that your mother continues to recover well at home

Best Wishes

Maureen
