"Cardiac Catheter Suite (Brown Zone Level 1)"

About: Medway Maritime Hospital / Cardiology

I was suffering chest pains typical of Angina and was sent to the Cardiac Catheter Suite for a Coronary Angiogram which confirmed the main artery to my heart was 90% blocked, I was then on the list for a procedure called Angioplasty. A stent, placed into the artery to open it up to allow the blood to flow normally again and stop these wretched pains. I didn't have to wait long for the op and on the day, I was treated with the upmost respect as I had on my previous visit. The staff were the same as my first visit and were all very friendly. My op was performed by a doctor who is gently spoken, they informed me of what they were doing throughout the op and I watched my procedure on the screens they were working from. I was given tea and sandwiches after my procedure and monitored for several hours to ensure all was well. I was given the all clear to go home with instructions of do's and don't's. I am in awe of these amazing people, they are worth their weight in gold, especially the doctor who I thank very much for giving me a better quality of life, and I promise I am trying to live a healthier life so as not to block any more arteries up
