"I am improving daily and getting back to fitness."

About: Lincoln County Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

Hi I went for an aortic scan originally, both parents died from aorta problems so a scan is advised. My aorta turned out to be fine, good news. However during my initial examination and scan it was discovered that I had a large melon sized cyst on my left ovary and some smaller ones on the right. Panic!

So started the journey. Firstly the blood test to check for ovarian cancer, frightening then another abdominal scan followed by a transvaginal scan. I was then referred to miss harper at Lincoln gynecology dept, lovely lady who respected my wishes not to accept blood. Surgery was scheduled and in a short time I was operated on, having a bilateral salpingo oophorectomy.

The surgery went well, the staff on Branston ward were amazing, each and every one of them. The ward is very clean and well run. Nobody wants to go into hospital but on Branston ward u are made very comfortable indeed. I was discharged within 2days, took blood thinning injections with me, not a great job doing those but needs must.

Soon finished and before I knew it the surgical stockings were gone! 2 weeks flew by. I have continued to recover well despite having to move house one week after surgery! A small infection in wound which responded to antibiotics well. My biopsy results were good which was a joy and here I am improving daily and getting back to fitness. Thank u all at Lincoln hospital from start to finish.
