"Kind and amazing effort."

About: Royal Hospital for Sick Children (Yorkhill) / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as a parent/guardian),

On Sunday my 8 year old brother split his arm open and had to go to the kids A&E and the Queen Elizabeth.

Obviously as an 8 year old and the amount of blood he saw he was in a state, until he got seen by a man ( Tony ) tony instantly calmed him down and told him everything was ok, my brother had to get stitches and Tony told him that they would put magic gel on his arm so he wouldn't feel a thing. My brother was over the moon by this magic gel, he then got his stitches from a man ( Barry ) who was also amazing with my brother, they were chatting to him for ages taken his mind off it all and my brother still to this day a week later talks about they 2 to everyone haha.

Thank you so much for the kind and amazing effort yous put in to make him feel at ease yous do an amazing job

Dear nh67

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on this site. Your brother must have had a traumatic time as you say and coming to hospital in these circumstances can be very frightening for children.

I am delighted to hear that he was distracted and comforted by both Tony and Barry in the Emergency Department. Our teams work very hard to treat and care for children and their families in often very distressing circumstances. It is lovely to hear how the way that care was provided helped your brother during his spell in the department.

Our General Manager has seen your post and will pass on your feedback along with his thanks and appreciation to Barry, Tony and the whole team.

I hope your brother is doing well now and his injuries are on the mend.

Best wishes

Pam
