Although I had my bloods taken a few months ago I just can't praise the service I received enough so this review is a long time coming. I'm needle phobic, so you can imagine how anxious I was feeling in the waiting room of the Nottingham CITY Hospital OutPatients. My number was called to bay 3, as I approached bay 3 I noticed a phlebotomist in the bay next door cheerily chatting to a patient who was laughing! This isn't going to be to bad I thought! I can do this! I was greeted with a smiley morning and I immediately told the phlebotomist that I'm not good with needles. ! You'll be fine with me she said, you get cosy and relaxed in your chair. She was cool calm and collected, I felt at ease She took my blood test that quick I didn't know she had done it. I've been to a few blood clinics locally and to the QMC and although the people were friendly, I feel like it's dragged out with them trying to overly be nice to me and calm me down. MY nerves make THEM nervous which doesn't help with my experience...I chatted a little with both of the phlebotomist and I told them it's actually been a lovely experience. I asked for both of the phlebotomist names. Wendy is the very calm phlebotomist who had taken my blood and Denise was the cheery phlebotomist. I'm due for another test in a few weeks, I hope these 2 will be there.
