"My mother-in-laws experience"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Rheumatology ( Wards 6a & 6b)

(as a relative),

My mother in law received the worse care in Ward 6A. She was left all night lying in her urine and the room door was shut. The call buzzer was left out of reach. Night shift were particularly unhelpful. Meant to have one on one care as apparently there is only one sensor mat for all the wards? Arrived more than once to find her trying to get out of bed and no nurse in sight. Waited over 30 mins for a nurse to answer her buzzer. Day care staff were always helpful and efficient.

Dear Jesushairdo72

I am really sorry to read about your mother in law’s experience which falls below the standards of care we aim to deliver. Please pass on my apologies to your mother in law.

I have shared your post with the General Manager and we would like to look into this further. It would be a great help if you could contact me directly with your mother in law’s personal details so that I can take this forward. I can be contacted at Nicole.McInally@ggc.scot.nhs.uk Can you please quote the reference number: 391527?

Kind Regards

Nicole

Dear Jesushairdo72

I wanted to follow up my earlier reply to your post – I’d suggested that you could get in touch with me so we can look more specifically into your Mother in Law’s experience in Ward 6A. Although you haven’t been in touch, I wanted to let you know that your feedback will be included in a monthly report which is shared with the hospital’s Senior Management Team. We use these reports to help us identify areas which we need to improve on. We want to make sure that all of our patients and their families are given the opportunity to tell us what was good about their time in our care, as well as what we could do better.

Kind Regards

Nicole
