"Missed fracture in a/e Ireland"

About: John Radcliffe Hospital / Accident and emergency

Arrived in a/e 29/5/17 May Day bank holiday having been discharged from a/e in castlebar hospital Ireland after being told I had dislocated hip.

I was still in severe pain and came in to a/e via ambulance, I was seen straight away and sent off for X-rays, at first they looked at my hip because of diagnosis in Ireland, they thought all was ok, but the doctor decided to do another xray and they then discovered I had a fractured femur. They quickly arranged a transfer to the Nuffield orthopaedic hospital for major surgery.

I can't thank the a/e doctor enough for their perseverance of the cause of my pain, without the doctor's persistence I'd of been sent home yet again with a fractured femur.

Everyone who looked after me was fantastic.

Thank you so much

Thank you so much for providing feedback about your experience of assessment by the Accident and Emergency team at the John Radcliffe. This must have been a very distressing time for you and it's great to hear that the doctor who treated you was so attentive and managed to identify the issue thanks to his/her persistence. It's also lovely to hear that you received great care from the rest of the team.
