I gave birth in the birthing suite earlier this year and would recommend it to anyone. The suite feels more like a hotel than a hospital therefore has a very relaxed atmosphere. All the midwives were beyond what we could have expected- within minutes of having my baby I was offered toast and tea and even had my bags carried to the overnight room. My partner and I hadn't slept and the midwives even offered to take baby for an hour so we could get some rest. All the midwives we saw took the time to come and have a chat and get to know us all. I was told NHS like to get you in and out to free up space. We were actually encouraged to stay over to get some rest knowing the professionals were there if we needed them and they made sure to check on us numerous times throughout our stay to ensure we were ok. As first time parents we had so many questions but were never made to feel silly about the 'normal things' we knew nothing about.
The midwives showed me how to breastfeed but there was absolutely no pressure to do this.
I cannot fault the services both the suite and the staff are amazing!
