"Appalling place"

About: Pinderfields General Hospital / Accident and emergency

Attended a and e with a frail elderly cognitively impaired relative. Sat for 4 hours in waiting area with no communication from staff, no ambulances in parking bay for most of time so not really sure what took so long. Observed several vulnerable patients waiting as long as us.

Staff give appearance of cannot be bothered, scruffy and no complaints mmunication skills, a smile or reassurance for patients goes a long way to helping them tolerate the situation.

You then proceeded to lose my relative having taken them from a waiting room to be seen in the dept but no one could tell me where they were, one lovely shining light was the receptionist/admin who did at least try.

Sat in a back corridor for another 2 hours ignored, by this stage we have been here for 6 hours without so much as a glass of water for an elderly patient who had not had a drink since breakfast

Witnessed several patients in similar state, some threatening to leave despite clearly looking I'll.

Dreadful place, as a nurse of 30 years I am appalled and embarrassed at my profession, and very saddened

Suggest all of your staff are given training in professionalism , manners and customer care
