We have, unfortunately, had occasion to use the 111 out of hours service, for the first time, twice in two weeks. On both occasions the service and care we received was beyond and above the best we could ever have expected.
In the first instance we were directed by a 111 operator to visit an emergency care centre which was reasonably close to us. All the staff there we found to be friendly, polite and they could not have done more to assist us. We received attention quickly, was diagnosed received sound advice and given a prescription all in the most courteous of manners.
On the second occasion, we were unable to attend a centre so a clinician telephoned us and then another clinician attended at our home, gave a diagnosis and suggested medicinal relief. Again all this in the most helpful, courteous, friendly and professional of manners.
What a wonderful and welcome change from our GP surgery, they should take lessons from 111!
