I was sent to the Acute Assessment Unit at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital directly from my GP practice.
When I arrived, I could see that the department was extremely busy and prepared myself for a long wait.
To my surprise I was booked in by a very friendly receptionist and was called within 10 minutes to have my blood pressure taken.
I was then taken to get further checks and blood samples taken very quickly.
The Staff Nurse and Clinical Support Worker were outstanding. They explained what was going to happen and made me feel at ease.
Immediately after my bloods were taken I was sent to a cubicle area to wait for a Doctor to see me. I did expect to wait here for some time as there was a lot of patients in the area waiting to see a Doctor.
Again - I was seen within 15 minutes by a lovely Consultant and he listened to everything I had to say and was so understanding.
The Nursing Staff were clearly all very busy and seemed to be rushed off their feet. However, they were very attentive and all very pleasant.
I was offered refreshments and sandwiches throughout my stay and was eventually discharged.
I would like to say a huge thank you to all members of staff who dealt with me. From the Nursing Staff, Medical Staff, Porters, Radiographers and the pleasant reception staff.
You all made a worrying time so much better and you are all an asset to the NHS in Scotland.
